I’ll try that next time, I didn’t play my usual heavy metal at work last night
as I was orientating someone so I thought I’d be nice to him and play the Bee
Gees

The one I find amusing is asking it to play a specific Artist or Band. I quite
often feel like listening to a particular band but not worried about what album
it is so I just ask it to play Iron Maiden, or disturbed or some other band. I
have a mix of studio albums and live albums. So it will usually play a studio
recorded version of the song followed directly by the live version of the same
song. Or the other way round. And it will do that for every song that has a
live version and a studio version.

Hi,

There are keywords that help Siri to be more accurate. Words like “album”,
“Playlist”, or just being specific. So, asking Siri to play Back in Black by
AC/DC may have her just play the song, or it might make her play the entire
album. It just depends on how she feels at the moment. Alternatively, if you
specifically ask Siri to “Play the album Back in Black by AC/DC”, then you’re
more likely to get the full album. Guaranteed, if you create a playlist from
the album, and ask her to play that specific playlist, then you’ll get what you
want. The oddities really start happening when you ask her to, for example,
play the best of Bryan Adams. If there happens to be an album with the same
name, it’s a toss-up whether you’ll get the album, or just whatever Siri, or
some other dude thought were the best songs.

It’s not an exact science, but it’s better than getting up off the couch
sometimes.

Later…

Hi Petrus,

I’ve just tried this with a couple of albums and in different ways,

Asking siri to play the Joshua tree,
Siri started playing the album
Asking to play pink floyds momentary laps of reason
Started the album playing,

As did siri play momentary laps of reason without the pink Floyd.

Hey siri play Back in Black got the song not the album,

Hey siri play war of the worlds got siri asking which one as she got 5 results,

Including the Jeff wayne war of the world, the new generation

Not what I thought it would play,

But when I picked the jeff wayne new generation
By saying play jeff wayne option,
I got the 2010 re make of the original jeff wayne war of the worlds but this
version has Liam Neason
Narrating the story,

This was a stage show in the O2 arrena back in 2010

It sounds to me like we’re getting mixed results

I sometimes just say hey siri play music and I get an apple music radio station
created from my genres of music

Just a form of mixes that is created automatically by the apple music system.

Subject: Asking Siri to play music

Hi all,
Sorry for bringing this up again, but I’ve been playing around with Siri and
asking it to play music while I was at work. last night I wanted to listen to
Ronnie James Dio, this is your Life and Siri told me She couldn’t find it in my
music library. So I asked it to play Dio this is your life and it played the
title track from the Album but not the entire album. This got me thinking. I
remember Anders asking Siri to play British Steel and it told him the same
thing. So I think Siri is focusing on individual songs and not Albums. So this
morning I asked Siri to Play the Album Ronnie James Dio this is your life and
it played it straight off. Maybe Anders should try asking Siri to Play the
Album British steel by judas Priest and see if it gets it right. This may not
work but I think it’s all in the way you ask Siri sometimes. I tried it on a
couple more Albums I have in my Music Library that hasn’t worked in the past
and made sure to start my request to Siri with Play the Album, such and such
and it worked every time.
