FYI: Apple offered me $160 for my 2013 era 11' Air when I bought my Mac
Mini a couple months ago. I declined and kept the Air.

At the moment it's a handy sized laptop I sometimes use in bed, when I'm
too lazy to head down the hall. Hey, I can cast from it, so why not?

Where I to get serious and start using it for more than email and web
browsing, I'd want it for loading my Native Instruments (Komplete
Kontrol) sound fonts over the USB3 port.

Now, I'd expect the gating factor here is the speed provided by the
port, not the CPU. Though having more than 8Gb RAM would probably be
important. In fact it would probably help this use case to have as much
RAM as possible so that the sound fonts could perhaps be accessed from
RAM in actual use with an app like Mainstage.

Best,

Janina
