Hello Barry, Many thanks for the tip on using VLC for this. Just to be clear I want to finish up with an MP4 version of the video in some location which I can find on my Mac.
Please note that I am not familiar with VLC. I have installed VLC on my Mac and have managed to play the desired youtube video using VLC. I am then not sure what to do next. Immediately after playing the video I can see it in a playlist but cannot find any place to get media information. If I quit VLC and then restart VLC I can no longer find the desired video. Can you please describe more fully how to use VLC to convert a youtube video into an MP4 file on my Mac.
