I'm trying to help someone begin to learn VoiceOver which will be used
in a non-speech-output context. I sent this person to:
https://help.apple.com/voiceover/mac
which is the starting point for the Catalina edition of the VoiceOver
user guide. Visually, this page is quite interesting. There's a button
to show or hide the table of contents, and within the t of c, the
individual sections have drop-downs which the reader can click to go
directly to the desired article. But trying to actually do this with
VoiceOver running and using strictly VoiceOver navigation commands and
techniques has proved challenging plus. For instance, I can open the t
of c and click on a topic, but then I can't get out of the t of c and
down below the header bar to actually read the chosen manual section. Of
course, the partially sighted learner can do it by jut clicking the
mouse here, there, and everywhere, but the idea here is to teach this
person how to do it *without* the mouse, and *with* VoiceOver running.
And you don't even want to know how this all works on a Windows browser
and screenreader!
So, please go to the page at the above link and explain to me how to
move through the table of contents, find a section to read, then get out
of that top window and back into the main area to read the chosen
section, all done with VoiceOver.
Thanks in advance.
