Correction: You do not go to Trackpad preferences to enable use of the Control
key with 2-finger gesture to increase or decrease magnification.
This is done by going to System Preferences > Accessibility, and selecting Zoom
from the categories list. Here you will not only find an option for enabling
use of the trackpad with 2-fingers for increasing magnification, but another
option for enabling keyboard commands for increasing and decreasing
magnification.

1. I also use invert colors on my Mac, and certainly understand what you are
experiencing when the desktop color is inverted and becomes extremely bright.
I solve this by setting my desktop to a solid medium gray color, which looks
pretty much the same whether invert colors is on or off. I don’t think this
desktop color is included in recent versions of the macOS, but i saved it from
an earlier version, and if you are interested, I can share it with you and
provide instructions on how to implement it.

2. A keyboard command already exist for decreasing the magnification level on
your Mac. This keyboard command is Command + Option + Minus, which is the key
located immediately to the left of the Equals key, which you are already using
to increase the magnification level.

One thing you might want to do, is go to System Preferences > Keyboard, select
the Shortcuts tab. Here you will find a table that will allow you to enable or
disable keyboard shortcuts that are pre-assigned by the macOS. You will want
to select Accessibility from the categories table, and then go through the list
of accessibility options, and turn on the commands you wish to use.
Since you are already using the command to increase magnification, I will
assume this item is already selected. You will want to make sure that the item
that allows using Command + Option + minus is selected as well.
Please note, that VoiceOver may not speak the minus symbol, so this may cause
confusion when VoiceOver reads this option.

There is another option for increasing and decreasing magnification that
involves using the trackpad, if you have one. This command is done by holding
down the Control key, and dragging 2-fingers up or down on the trackpad. You
will need to go to System Preferences > Trackpad to make sure this gesture is
enabled.

Hi everybody, hope somebody can help. I actually have two questions. Let’s
start with the first.
I recently had a eyesight assessment and with help of glasses I am able to make
out some contrast. What works the best, and is most comfortable for my eyes, is
viewing white text on a black background.
I checked the box for invert colors, and like magic when I open up for example
text edit the background is black with white text, the problem is that the
desktop is white and is blinding me. I understand I can go into system
preferences, display and screensaver, and there I can choose a color. I’m not
sure if this will work but can anybody tell me an easy way to choose a colour
for my desktop, for example I am thinking if I choose a white background the
invert will make it black. Any suggestions. Or does anybody have a magic
solution to switch the whole entire Mac to white on black?
My second question has to do with my subject line. I am trying to zoom windows
and texts on my Mac. The zoom is not very comfortable because it zooms the
whole entire screen instead of just the text. I am still trying to learn this
and play with it and figure something out. My problem is this when I go into
the settings I am given the hot key to zoom in which is option command equals I
am also given another hockey to zoom out but voiceover says not assigned and
it’s not really working. Can anybody walk me through assigning a hotkey for a
task, in this case zoom out. I would really appreciate any help.
