assuming ,both router and MAC see an active ethernet port it is router configuration that would be holding you back. I do not have a bluetooth adaptor at the moment, so I have no way of looking at what details are provided. That being said there is either an advanced or details butt'on in network settings, and this brings up a dialog with several tabs. One other thing to check is make sure dhcp is enabled on the router. On some routers you have to configure this for each port.
