Hi, Two things might be going on here. First, you may have Location Services disabled. Go to Security & Privacy, then press the lock to unlock this pane. It will ask for your Admin password, enter it. Select Location Services from the table, then check the box to enable Location Services. After this is accomplished, go back to the Date & Time System Preference pane.
I suspect that “Set Time Automatically according to your Location” is checked and that is why the item that Brad suggested is dimmed. This is OK if Location Services are active, if it has consequently figured out location and the the set according to location is checked in the Time Zone tab of the Date & Time pane. To confirm, go into the Date & Time pane, select the Time Zone tab and see if that box is checked. If your location is not working properly, you can uncheck this item and enter a city manually. Unchecking this will also make the button you said was dimmed be available to you. HTH.
