This can be an issue when the date is significantly off, the network time 
protocols don't want to have you experience a time warp. I suggest setting the 
time manually, rebooting and then turn back on the automatic time setting 
functions. Until you get your clock set right, you might have issues accessing 
most web sites.
Also, if you are comfortable in the terminal, the standard "date" command  the 
system setup commands can set the clock. Both of these would require you use 
sudo to elevate your privileges in the command line.
