This bug affected both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs in the same way. Fusion does indeed work on Apple Silicon, when not affected by this bug. The latest Sonoma has fixed it; when I upgrade to the next minor point release, I'll see if the fix is in there, but if not then it's the next major point release that will have it, hopefully not too long.
