Hiding/unhiding purchases means you curate your unhidden list, making it
convenient to download everything you need at once. Not useless in a world
where syncing is fast disappearing as a credible option, especially for apps.

But owing to the inaccessibility of the process, I have largely given up, and
now rely on organic downloading on an as-needed basis, which though it
sometimes means not having what I need in the instant I do need it, does
generally mean a lighter load on my devices and less worry overall caused by
changes and updates. Fly free, unhide everything, and get what you need, when
you need it. The stores don't sell you things for your perpetual use or
ownership, between DRM and device changes they could disappear at any time; you
might as well learn to live in that reality and let your tech overlord run your
life for you, just the way they want to. So long as you have your data in files
that are directly accessible, your backups are realistically all you'll ever
need to get back on your feet, more so on Mac because Apps are more portable,
but still, generally, if you simply don't allow your data to be held hostage to
a given app, you'll be all right.

Cheers,
Sabahattin
