Its a very handy feature. Some years ago, apple thought it was a
good idea to give us some music. I did not care for those and could not
delete them. They remain hidden.
Forward to Tahoe. While I was tweaking my library, I hid a couple
albums which had issues. Unhiding them is the same as redownloading. But
Apple made a boo boo in this. So I threw my library into Ventura and
accomplished the task.
