Yes I have USB-C ports on the MacBook but I was hoping to hang a disc drive off
of the airport time capsule which has several ethernet ports and I also believe
a USB port so that question is moot. Anyway, I have decided to just hang a
Samsung one terabyte SSD off of my MacBook and assigned that as the Time
Machine back up drive so the problem is solved. It just seemed to me that
having a hard disk drive attached to your MacBook Pro kind of defeated the
purpose of having a portable laptop when there is another device connected to
it which would have to be disconnected or carried with. The SSD is Bus powered
and so not such a paperweight on the MacBook Pro as would be a hard drive
spinning mechanical drive With an external power supply.
