I run Linux VMs on my Macs, though mostly for textmode applications under BRLTTY and using Braille exclusively, or as headless servers. I should expand, but so far I’ve not found vanilla distribution support for accessibility to be any good, except Debian, and there Mate is strongest. And Mate, of course, is under threat from Wayland. What are you using, if you don’t mind my asking? > Voiceover development for macOS is extremely slow, and it has been for as > long as I've used it. > > It's almost universally true, regardless of operating system, that > accessibility is terribly under-resourced, including by large corporations > with vast funds available. I think you’re right in general, but even though Apple’s approach has always been rather patriarchal, I’m sure I remember a time (2008) where the accessibility mailbox was actually staffed by people instead of a ticket system, and software update notes would routinely make explicit reference to VoiceOver bugs that had been fixed, even obscure mentions of particular UI that had been made accessible. The iPhone has killed all that, and accessibility support from any of the corporations is now largely rhetorical; we benefit most when there’s some PR to be wrung out of the situation.
