Yes indeed Esther with the mouse there is no problem.  Incidentally, this isn't 
specific to my machine.  I kidnapped my Fiancee's computer when she wasn't 
looking and could replicate the same issues on that machine.  BOth are running 
10.6.3, so your notion that it's a version specific issue could be plausible.  

I'm putting together a bug report with details of how to replicate the issues 
for apple.  With the mods permission, I might post it here (though it could be 
a tad long) for comment and feedback from others.  I would be more than happy 
for others to either contribute comments, or indeed add their own bugs for this 
application (and details of how to replicate them) which we could then pass on 
to Apple.

Thoughts welcome.
