Absolutely not. You do not need sighted assistance to install the OS; however, 
I think that is a bit to extreme at this point.
What you should do is first go into your home folder, go to 
Library/Preferences/ and look for the following files and then remove them. 
ONce you have removed them, turn VoiceOver off and back on.
com.apple.VoiceOver3
com.apple.VoiceOver3.local.plist
com.apple.VoiceOver3.local.plist.5RNAc9n

You may not have the last file, but the point is you want to get rid of any 
VoiceOver preferences. Allow VoiceOver to rebuild these files and the other 
thing you want to do is be sure the sounds etc. are working before you make any 
changes to the preferences. As you make changes, just be aware of anything that 
stops working.
