I'm very surprised that you had this issue with them!  It's very unlike Apple 
not to go above and beyond to help their customers!  I'm really sorry to hear 
you had such a negative experience, and, like you, I'm really surprised.  
I hope that you can get the iPhone pre-ordered somehow!
