Hi Chris, Once you find Skype.app in the downloads folder, you can simply copy it over to your applications folder. You can press command-c to copy it, then while in the finder, press command-shift-a to go to the applications folder and use command-v to paste it there.
Once you have it open, you can then go to the area on the dock which says "Skype, running" and press command-shift-t to place it permanently in the dock.
