I use TextEdit as a verification tool for things like paragraph numbering and the location of tables.
When I need to work on a table in Pages, I copy it into Numbers, work on it there, then copy it back to Pages where I haven't yet managed to look at a table. I'll try Barry's trick when I next have to deal with a table in Pages. My situation is that I receive documents in French to translate into English, so I'm not creating documents from scratch. I need to spend a lot more time on Pages and the other iWork09 applications this summer to write a user guide. There's definitely a need for one specifically for VO users as the standard way of doing things frequently doesn't work for us.
