Hello. My goal is to switch completely to the mac but over time. The good
news is that you don't have to switch completely right away. I use VM Fusion
and run Windows 7 and the mac os at the same time. Then I get the best of
both worlds. I can gradually learn to use the IWork suite while still
getting my work done. VMFusion costs about 100. I installed Windows 7 and
JAWS. I am also trying Window-Eyes. It works very well. In fact, there are
two real advantages.
1. I can store all my documents on the Mac side and have a clean image of
the Windows OS. If I lose my windows image, I just restore my image and I'm
good to go.

Subject: Mac vs. Windows Accessibility was Re: Reopen office

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

I recently bought a Mac but can't seem to justify the purchase to myself
completely a month after. There are several areas where Windows still holds
primacy over the Mac and there seems no way out in terms of my daily usage.
These are:
* DRM streaming: Some DRM video streaming is still only limited to Windows.
Quite frustrating when you are hoping for a speedy conversion to the Mac.
* Lack of VoiceOver accessibility support. VoiceOver as far as I can tell,
does not support the onMouseover event handler. Maybe you folks have a
solution for this?
* Flash support: As far as I know, VoiceOver still does not support Flash
How many years have we had support in Windows. Eight, perhaps? How do folks
who have made the near complete Windows-to-Mac transition work around this
short of switching to Windows?

Happy for folks' perspectives.

Thanks. Rajiv

of its functionality but find myself wishing that I had more word processing
options that worked well with VoiceOver. If I discover a word processing
app that works well on the Mac with VO and gives me the same level of
accessibility that I have with Window-Eyes and MS Office, I will let you
know.

Parallels is not the answer for me. After all, this is why I partially left
Windows in the first place.
