Hi,

To export a list of your iTunes podcast feeds as an OPML file, select "Podcasts" in your sources list, then navigate to the File menu on your iTunes menu bar (VO-M or Control-F2 to move to the menu bar, press "F"), arrow down and press "L" to move to "LIbrary", right arrow to the Library submenu, then arrow down to "Export Playlist…" and press return. In the dialog window that appears you can choose a name for your exported file and a location. Most Podcast programs use OPML files to import/export feed subscriptions, so you should choose "OPML" for the format by navigating (VO Right Arrow) to the pop up button next to "Format", pressing it (VO-Space), and then either pressing "O" or arrowing down to "OPML".

HTH. Cheers,

Esther

It doesn't look like itunes has a function for exporting your podcast feeds. However, you can move the feeds' URLs over one at a time.

1. Select an episode of a podcast in itunes.

2. Hit VO-shift-m, and choose "copy podcast feed."

3. navigate over to Xcast, and hit command-n to bring up the dialog for adding a new feed.

4. Paste the URL in the box with command-v.

5. Repeat steps 1-4 for each podcast you want to transfer from itunes.

6. Once you copy all your feeds over, interact with the first table and select all the feeds with command-a.

7. Hit VO-shift-m and and select "get info."

8. under "automatic download," choose "all new available" in the pop-up menu. That will cause Xcast to download new episodes whenever Xcast refreshes.

9. Hit command-, to bring up the prefferences dialog.

10. Navigate to the tool bar and interact with it.

11. Choose "Feeds" and stop interacting with the tool bar.

12. Activate the pop-up menu, and decide how often you want Xcast to check for new episodes. I have mine set to check every 30 minutes.

13. Back in the tool bar, choose "enclosures."

14. Hit the "change" button to change where Xcast saves your downloads.

15. Under "default Automatic Enclosures Download," choose "all new available" from the pop-up menu.

16. I have my maximum concurrent downloads set to 8. You might want to set it to something lower, depending on your internet connection. See how the program behaves for you.

Good luck, and email me with any other questions you have.

Onward!

Try Xcast http://xcast.ch/

It's a dedicated podcast subscribing tool and it works with VoiceOver.

Hi all,

First I'd like to thank those who answered my previous question by recommending ChronoSync. It's great for keeping the music and podcasts folders on my stream's SD Card synchronized with the computer. It does even better than AllwaySync did on windows.

Now I'm looking for some software for downloading podcasts. I suppose I could still use ITunes for this, but I'd like something small and fast that is designed to do one thing well. ITunes is just over-featured and a little slow, the only Mac application I've seen yet that I would call bloated.

I loved to use Juice Receiver on windows, it was very accessible and it was easy to tell which files had been newly downloaded. Unlike ITunes, I could tell Juice exactly where to keep the files so that the AllwaySync application could keep it in sync with the card. Unfortunately the OSX version of Juice is far less accessible. Voiceover identifies almost every control as unknown. It isn't being developed any longer so there is nobody I can contact.

Thanks in advance for any tips.

Justin
