Try doing command shift a after you place your cursor at the point where you 
want the file to attach.  I usually type my name at the bottom and then press 
return twice then do Then I press return and then I press command shift d to 
send.  Works every time for me.

Marlainacommand shift a.  At that point, I arrow down through my documents to 
find the file I want.
