Yes you are correct.  Think of it this way, why do we lock our cars?  The 
regular run-of-the-mill thief will be stopped by a locked door but a 
professional, if I can call them that, can get in, shut off the alarm, and take 
the car in a matter of seconds.  So, then why do we have DRM you ask?  Two 
reasons come to mind, the artists and record label people made it a condition 
of the digital sales process and secondly, because then us honest people will 
actually purchase our music, movies and other media content.
