Carilyn, When I was using an ipad, I just got use to the dismiss pop up thing. It seems to see things like the inbox as a pop up. Don't ask me why. But, if you just flick pat it, it won't bug you as I recall.
As for your question about changing archive to delete in the mail app, I have the same question from the perspective of my iPhone 4. It seems that with the last update, I lost the ability to choose delete in my settings for the mail app. Therefore, I'm eager also to find the answer to this and was going to post that question here one of these days. I, too had difficulty with my apple bluetooth keyboard and ipad. My problem was that it would pair ok, but sometimes it would unpair while I was using it and I didn't know it. Also, I had the devil's own time using pages on the iPad. I hope you have better success than I did; my husband now has and loves the ipad and I have the Mac Book Air and love it so the story ended up happily ever after for us. I know several blind folks who love love love their ipad, but it just never worked out well for me.
