I wonder if you turn off the alert if it would speak, I also notice there is 
some kind of ipod control button when following a root, I wonder if this 
enables speech. Otherwise the logic of this makes no sense, you're using the 
program to get you where you want to go, just because you're walking, why would 
someone not want voice instructions, even if they were sighted.
