Thanks, but I am more than certain it is not the drive. The drive was replaced nearly a year ago. Again, this turned out to be a software issue since a complete install of SL resolved the problem. SOmething is messing things up and I'm going to try and figure out what. As I said, the one good thing is I have an external drive. Of course I do not use the drive often, so at some point I may just remove it and stuff another hard drive in there. Scott
