The documents are transferred through iTunes. One first imports the documents into iTunes, and then when the device is connected, transfer the documents to the device. Following this procedure, an additional step is required. When Pages is open, go to documents, and select import documents. There will be a list of the documents that were transferred, and they have to be selected, and imported, within the device one by one. It took a little practice for me to feel comfortable with the process.
