Okay, you have to type command-r when you've selected your source with Audio Hijack Pro to have it record, when Audio Hijack Pro is launched its in "Standby" mode for want of a better description. Pressing command-R again will stop the recording but be sure you're on the selected source in your components and sessions list or you may start recording from another source or stop another if you have one running <smile>.
I prefer to use the options in the toolbar, that way I can see what Audio Hijack Pro is doing with a source at any one time if anything, just move between the buttons and press vo-space on those you wish to activate/deactivate.
