Hi Marlaina,

OK, a further dumb question. Can you actually open any of the files that are
in your Public Dropbox folder? For example, if you loaded up a document or PDF
file, when you are in Finder and select the file that you tried to bring up the
context menu for, can you press Command-Down Arrow to open the file and read
it? I'm trying to verify that the file has been completely uploaded. If you
can't open it, then I wouldn't be surprised if you also can't get a link to it.
 If you have other (older) files in your Dropbox folder (not necessarily in
your Public folder) that you can open and read, when you do a Command-Up Arrow
from the Public folder, what happens when you copy one of these (Command-C),
move back down to the Public folder (Command-Down Arrow), paste in the file
(Command-V), and then, after a short pause to let the file copy (if it is at
all lengthy), what happens when you try the context menu selection
(Command-Shift-M) sequence again? It sounds as though you don't have access to
the cloud (which is what you're saying about getting the regular Finder
commands).

In my Public Folder there is a file named "Top Secret.txt" (from an admittedly
old distribution). When I open this with Command-Down Arrow, the file reads:
<begin quote>
You can get a public link for any file in your Dropbox's Public folder.

Simply right click (or control click) on a file, click the Dropbox submenu,
and then click 'Copy public link.'
<end quote>

Any chance that there is such a file in your Public Dropbox folder? Does the
context menu work on that file? (And yes, if I route my mouse cursor to this
file and Control-Click by holding down the Control key with a clicking my
trackpad, I can press down arrow and move through the same menu options as
before, then right arrow at the Dropbox sub menu, and down arrow to the "Copy
Link").

I badly want to get to that (inaccessible) status bar icon to check your
network connection! Sorry not to have more thoughts.

Esther
