Hi Carolyn,

If you bring up the Preferences menu for Safari with Command+comma, and then navigate to the
General Tab, then navigate to the Pop-up button and press it (VO-Space), you can chose
"Other…".  This brings up a dialog window that you can navigate with the same shortcuts
that you use in Finder.  Specifically, try the shortcut combination Command+Shift+G (for "Go
to Folder"), then type into the text box:
~/Downloads
that's an initial tilde (the leftmost key under the escape key, shifted -- which is a shortcut for
the current user's home directory), followed by a slash, followed by the word "Downloads"
(with a capital "D")

Then press return, and your default location for saving downloads will be the
"Downlloads" folder under your account.  I hope this is the location that you
want.

HTH.  Cheers,

Esther

Well, re the pop-up button, my only option is to "Carolyn" which is my home, when I try selecting
"other," it seems everything comes up but "downloads."

I can interact with the table and all sorts of options are there. But, not the
one I want, which is downloads.
Wonder what I'm missing.:)
Again thanks for any further suggestions.

Carolyn

In my Safari, under General in preferences, is a "safe downloaded files to," with a
pop-up button next to it set to Downloads or "other." Perhaps this is the beast you are
hunting?
