Hello Brandt, The best OCR app for iPhone is Prizmo. Several of us who are totally blind have had very good results with this app, which is also multilingual.
As for colour detectors, there seems to be a problem with the iPhone 4 and colour identification. The app that seems to be most accurate for now is iSpectrum Color Blind Assistant.
