I'd try erasing the prefs file and relaunchin the app.  Next, I'd write up a 
detailed report and send it off to:

[email protected]
with the VueScan.log file attached to the e-mail.  Remember, you can find this 
file under:
c/User/Library/Preferences/

Don't zip or otherwise alter the file, just attach it and he'll be able to see 
what's going on.
