Hello,
As an owner of a mini mac, I can safely tell you you have the adapter you need. All you need to do is plug the plug for the monitor in to the adapter you have. I know, I've done it a number of times at home and at the Apple store.

Ok now I made the setup without a screen but I agree totally on what
both of you said that I need not only the adapter that came with the
mini but the screen as well. I tried the adapter it fit somewhere in
the mini but on the other end it did not fit in the vga display I have,
here I wonder what is the adapter I should get to fit in this old screen?

Can anybody tell me the names of the connectors from left to right? I
know the most left one is for the loudspeakers and of course I
recognise the 4 usb ports but the other connectors are strange to me,
especially that wide slot under them.

Hi,

You might want to hold off on doing anything to the mini and saving your receipt. Rumors are their will be a refresh soon for the Mac mini's and Macbook airs.

Hello Georges,

Scott answered your first two questions and I can answer the third, regarding how to replace RAM in the Mac Mini. The process is quite simple in the newer Mac Minis that were manufactured beginning in mid 2010, which I assume is what you have purchased. The entire enclosure of the recent Mini is aluminum with the exception of the large round plastic "foot" that you will feel on the underside of the Mini. This plastic foot is actually a cover that can be removed simply by turning it counter-clockwise and lifting it off of the Mini. Assuming you have washed your hands thoroughly and are now grounded to prevent static electricity from damaging the internal components, you can feel around inside the body of the Mini and you will find the RAM modules. They are stacked on top of each other, so you will only feel one module at first. It is held in place by two metal spring loaded clips, one on each side of each RAM module. You gently expand these two clips and as you do so the RAM module will pop up slightly. You can then gently pull on it to fully remove it from it's socket. While you're doing this, you might want to feel along the edge of the RAM module where it meets the socket in the Mini. This might help you to understand how the RAM module fits into the socket, and you'll need to know this when you attempt to insert your new RAM modules because they can only be inserted correctly facing one direction. Once you've removed the first RAM module you can feel the second RAM module under it. It is removed using the same procedure.

Incidentally, RAM prices seem to be dropping at the moment and, in fact, someone on another list posted a note saying that newegg.com has an 8 GB RAM kit on sale today for US $50, but I haven't verified this and I'm not sure if newegg.com is an option in your locale.

HTH,
Bryan

Just bought mac mini with the default configuration 2.4GHZ and 2GB of ram and 320GB of hard disk space to start with. My questions are:

Can I set it up by just connecting the mouse and the keyboard or do I need the screen or at least the adapter to vga? Heard theories in the past that they used to hang up without an adapter when used is this still the case?

Can I run windows7 32bits on it with 2GB ram or shall I wait until 4GB or more is into it? Btw, how does one replace ram on this little cd-like thing? Will stick to bootcamp now, regards.
