Well, let's see...
So, if you go to the store menu with vo+M, then vo+right arrow over to it,
if you then go down to view my account, you should then get an html web area
content area you can interact with, and your balance should be in there. If
nothing else, it should show your balance as a button before you reach that
content area.
I guess, chad, when you say you can't see your balance, I'm a little bit
confused. Are you saying you have some credit on your account issued by
either Apple, or by a gift card? That's the only way, aside a promo code,
that your account would have a redeemed balance.
Sorry for the confusion.
I'm just trying to get a better handle on this.
As for writing Apple support, that was definitely not a bad idea.
Hopefully, they'll get back with you within 24 business hours and let you
know what's up.

all my credit info is right it said invalid security code
its the right one
i had a sighted person check the card for me to make sure i was entering
the right code

I say this as I've had to do the same and on the windows version of
ITunes it didn't work worth a crap! Parden the language. I had it work
perfectly though on the mac side of things.
