Hi Chris,

Your Macbook will be fine to get started with Pro tools. However here are some 
things you'll want to know.

1. Pro Tools is not currently supported with Lion, so if you've got Lion, 
you'll need to go back to snow leopard for the time being.

2. I'd recommend getting an MBox 2 which is not a control surface but it's a 
USB high quality sound card so you'll plug your headphones into that.

So you could use the mac for voiceover and the MBox for your recording and 
playback and actually you can have voiceover going through your MBox as well.

I'd recommend picking one of those up on EBay, If you just buy Pro Tools 9 for 
600 Bucks, You'll also need to buy some kind of audio as well, an MBox usually 
comes with the Pro Tools  software.
