I did that. It's set at 75, but for some reason, the mp3 still records at what 
sounds like a rate of 50 percent or so. I've
checked the speech settings multiple, multiple times. Thanks for the 
suggestion, though.

hi i figured out how to make a mp3
someone posted ho to speed up alex i figured it out go to system preferences 
then under speech hit the text to speech button
then vo right arrow and there's a slider its on 49.8 by default then adjust it 
and next to that is a play button so you can
hear how fast its going to be hth
