I've used this before to do a quickie wireless setup where I used my Mac
to share out a single network connection via the airport in the machine.
I just navigate to Internet Sharing but have to pick the From and To
before it will let me turn it on. So in my case I chose Ethernet 1 from
the "Share your connection from:" popup. Next there is a table with
destination rows. In there you should find one row with AirPort in the
Ports column. Each row has a checkbox in the "On" column. So check the
airport as on, stop interacting with that table and go back to the
Sharing Services table, interact with the Internet Sharing row and you
should be able to now check the checkbox in the On column. It will then
prompt you with the usual "are you sure..." dialog.

Hello list:
I've never had to use this since I got my mac. In fact, I've never had to share
an Internet connection in the past 10 years or so from a computer.
I know this should be quite simple. I go into Preferences, select sharing, and
navigate through the table of sharing items until I see Internet sharing. I
find this but the check box to turn it on is dimmed.
What I want to do is share a 3g USB modem and use WiFi to connect my two
iPhones. Anyone know why the check box for Internet sharing would be dimmed? Is
something done in the software that is installed on your system for these USB
modems to disable Internet sharing?
Thanks in advance,
Doug
