William, Wow, it turns out that I was an 11.0.x build. Discovering that I was so far back encouraged me to update to the latest dev build. This version of Chrome is so much faster with Voiceover than I remember, and the quirks I previously saw seem to be gone. Thank you very much for the suggestion. I think this may indeed be a good alternative to Safari. now if only I could find an extension to change my user agent for m.facebook.com I'd be a happy camper.
