This is my personal experience only, so I preface this by saying that I
have no proof that it makes a difference, but I was having a lot of issues with
blank CDs and DVDs, as well as when opening an optical disk causing repeated
busy signals. I ended up deleting my Finder preference files from my user
library and rebooted the system. I haven't had any issues since.
Note that if you delete finder preferences, you will have to reconfigure
Finder in any customizable way you might have initially set. For example,
you'll have to check all of the boxes for what will appear on the desktop, such
as hard disks, connected servers, etc.
