this does sound like a resolution issue where the required component is not 
being mapped to the display or voiceover directly. if we all flag this to 
accessibility and safari  bug reporting, then this should come up as a priority 
fix in mountain lion which as I understand is due out in the next few months. 
Am looking forward to testing it out.
