I use Dropbox on my mac with no problems.  I'm trying to remember at
the beginning when I installed it if there was anything to beware of.
Obviously at some point while installing Dropbox on the computer, you
will have to supply user and password.  That should have happened when
running the dropbox installer app.  I also recall some people saying
you had to run the installer from somewhere other than the normal
Applications folder.  Sorry to be vague here but after I got through
the setup which wasn't really problematic for me, it just works for me
and I don't think about it anymore.
