Hi, I am on Snow leopard. If I want to see my progress I need to open the downloads window. I can do this by either pressing command plus option, plus L. I can also get to this via the menu bar then going to the window menu drop down. Once, You are in the downloads window in Safari, you can VO around and interact with the list and you can access this info. Also, my mac automatically unzips my DTB files for me once the download is complete. I think there is a setting to have the mac automatically open downloaded items, I think this is why it automatically unzips the files for me. I am sorry, but I cannot remember where I saw this setting.
