it is in Downloads unless you have chosen a save as dialog. one of the icons in 
the downloads pane has an icon called "view in finder" and it will open a 
finder window for you. to interact with a zip file with something other than 
the default application do:
ctrl-option-shift-M and that will open a dialog box with a number of items 
(open, open with..., move to trash, etc.). choose the open with if you have 
other apps installed that can handle zip files.
