Hi folks, I am quite sure not too many of you use Finnish speech, but I thought maybe someone could help me anyway *smiles
I upgraded to Mountain Lion yesterday. After that, I noticed there was a new version of Finnish voice Mikko available. They promised it would be better than the old one, so I just went ahead and grabbed it. Unfortunately it made things ten times worse than before. Finnish is phonetically very different from English. It is essential that I can see (hear) words exactly the way they should be pronounced in Finnish. I can see in some cases - for example if sighted people read audiobooks using Finnish speech - it is nice if the names and such are pronounced the correct way. But unfortunately I happen to be blind. I need speech in order to 'see' what actually is on my computer screen. I don't want to start guessing when the computer is guessing the pronounciation of some words and when they actually are spelled the way they've been pronounced. There are now many many more Finnish words that are being pronounced incorrectly, of course it is nice that some English names now are pronounced the way they should be … So my question is: does anyone know if there is a way to undo such an update? I do have a backup made with time machine, but that is from before I upgraded my Os to Mountain Lion. I'm now using the compact version of Finnish Mikko Voice -- that still seems to be more OK. Any help would be very much appreciated. It would be nice if there were just a switch somewhere so that I could decide wether or not the speech uses any pronounciation interpretation.
