Hi David,

I'm confused as to many of your issues here as they appear to work much
differently than you've expressed below. Are you, perhaps, still speaking from
a OS Lion prospective? Within Mountain Lion, you will note the following:

1. Highlighting stuff in Safari is totally normal. That is, simply Interact
with the HTML content area and you can highlight anything you wish to highlight
and subsequently copy it with cmd-c. There should be no issues with
selecting/highlighting multiple groups of text either, at least in my test
pages. Do you have an example of a site where this was a problem?

2. As mentioned in a previous post, in TextEdit, simply press cmd-shift-t
either before or after the paste of anything from a web page in order that
images and links are not pasted as such. by default, TextEdit is in rtf mode
and will accept links and images. If you'd prefer TextEdit to act like
NotePad, simply press cmd-comma while in TextEdit to open its Preferences, then
select the New Document tab and select the Plain Text radio button. After
doing this, all new documents created in TexEdit will begin as a Plain Text
document until you change this Preference or use the cmd-shift-t command to
change the active document back to rtf. I've used TextEdit for years for doing
HTML coding and not had any issues.

3. I, again, am confused as pressing cmd-shift-u while in Safari will bring up
the source code for the given page and I have no problems interacting with the
code area and reading it. This, I'll admit, was problematic in some earlier
versions of MacOS and/or Safari but is perfectly fine in Mountain Lion with
Safari 6.

4. Press option-return on a link to start the download.

I'm guessing that you primarily work with your PC and thus are not totally
familiar with many of the finer points of the MacOS. This is totally fine
although, in my opinion, it would be more productive to post questions on
whether something can be done easily on the Mac instead of making inaccurate
claims.

Hope these items are helpful.

Later...
