This sounds a bit risky. Not so much the actual moving of applications
to another drive but that many things assume that all the apps are
stored under /name_of_boot_drive3/Applications. Maybe moving just the
user-installed apps to an external would be ok but I wouldn't move the
Apple installed apps and utilities.
