Hi Christine and everyone.
Okay, I'm on the MacBook now so I thought I'd share what I did to get rid of Mission Control's annoying unwanted appearances.
1. go into system preferences.
2. Interact with preference panes scroll area.
3. VO-right-arrow to the keyboard button. Note: You will pass by Mission control, which does contain some keyboard options. But these are for keyboard commands while you're in Mission control, so they're not what we're after at the moment. 4. Select keyboard and VO-right-arrow to the keyboard shortcuts tab and select it. Note: You'll pass by the keyboard tab on the way to the keyboard shortcuts tab.
5. VO-right-arrow till you hear "shortcut categories table.
6. On mine, Mission control was the first item in the table. If it isn't for you, up and down arrow till you find mission control. 7. Then VO-right-arrow past a vertical splitter, then you'll find mission control shortcuts table. 8. Here's where it got interesting for me. If you don't interact with the shortcuts table, you can up and down arrow, hearing checkboxes which are either checked or unchecked. But of course, you can't change the state of the checkboxes. Once you interact, you can uncheck these boxes, you just can't tell what you're unchecking. So I just kept tabbing and shift-tabbing back and forth, being careful that I didn't get myself into a strange table and uncheck some big thing somewhere. <grin.>But when you're not interacting with the shortcuts table, you will see things like application windows, control-down-arrow. If you count from the top, knowing which one this is, just interact, uncheck that box and your life will be so much more peaceful. 9. If you stop interacting with the shortcuts table, you can VO-right-arrow to the place where you can decide how the tab key behaves. Or you can just close with Command-W and enjoy your Mac life. Anyway, there may be an easier path, but I hope this made sense and did some good.
