Hi One way of getting yourself some of the way to where you want is to go into the view options. Press command + J to bring these up. Now Put arrange by to Kind and sort by to Name or whatever you like. The defaults are to arrange by None and sort by date modified. But if you put Arrange by Kind then the folders will be grouped together.
