I thought I heard that too but I tried it recently on an iPhone 4S and it did not work there. I don't know its upgrade history, nor was I aware of what mode the phone was in at that moment. I was shown the phone in a case and I thought I'd be smart and see if VO would turn on with triple click home and nothing. I think if I were buying a device right now, I would want to have someone look over my shoulder or fire up iTunes for the first time to check out the landscape as it were.
