I thought I heard that too but I tried it recently on an iPhone 4S and it did 
not work there.  I don't know its upgrade history, nor was I aware of what mode 
the phone was in at that moment.  I was shown the phone in a case and I thought 
I'd be smart and see if VO would turn on with triple click home and nothing.  I 
think if I were buying a device right now, I would want to have someone look 
over my shoulder or fire up iTunes for the first time to check out the 
landscape as it were.
