Hi,

The first thing I'd do in this sort of case is to shutdown the machine totally. 
 While it's off, remove the power cord, leave it out for about one minute then 
make sure it is firmly back in at both ends.  If you are also using a power 
bar, then take it out of the loop if you can.  This will do a number of things. 
 First, it will confirm whether your problem is the computer itself or if it 
has something to do with an outside factor.  Second, it should reset some 
things within your power supply logic system in case there was confusion there.

If the problem persists, you can do the Repair Disk Permissions which you can 
do by going into the Utilities folder (cmd-shift-u when in the Finder), 
selecting the Macintosh HD, selecting the First Aid tab and clicking the Repair 
Disk Permissions button.  It may take a while depending on how many errors your 
HD has.

If it continues the problem, then we'll cross that bridge when we get there.
