I was also thinking about going with an internet connected thermostat and noticed Lowes has "Hunter" ones for $100 but are pretty weak on details. Found out a bit more here:

Sounded interesting but after reading the iPhone app reviews it sounds like the thing might be a dud:

Hi JP,

I was just looking at that today. It does look very interesting. I was
thinking that it'd be cheaper to get a less expensive thermo stat and an iPhone
app, but maybe this is the best way to go. Thanks for the info.
Cheers,
Donna

Hey Donna, I hear the Nest thermostat is very good. I was looking to get. It is
made by a gentleman who designed first ipod. I hear that 2nd gen works better
than 1st. The 1st had a couple hiccups. It sells for around $250. U.S. if you
shop Amazon, I've seen it there. The company apparently has very good support.
It is also sold at Apple Stores.
